This little 1940s piece is especially fabulous because it is actually a early form of a play suit based on shorts! Perfect for the pin up girl of the forties to go to and from the beach, it has a lovely design of starfish screened on it from top to bottom. A notched collar and button front add lots of detail to the already fabulous seaming and paneling. The "shorts" are cut with swingy overlay panels that slightly overlap so it looks like a sexy little dress - very forward for this time period! Huge deco buttons finish.
Note that the buttons has chips all along their edges - most likely from cleaning processes over the years. I have left them as they are still useable and they are original - even with the broken edges they are too fabulous to remove. You can of course replace them with new buttons if you wish. Unlined.
